Bauer Vapor 2X Pro Skate Review

For years, Bauer's Vapor line has been one of the most popular choices for skates.

The Vapor line features a narrow, low-profile fit and a phenomenal heel lock. Not to mention, the Vapor line is synonymous with being lightweight and comfortable.

With the Bauer Vapor 2X Pro Skate, don't expect anything less.

From an aesthetic standpoint, the 2X takes on a very different colourway, opting for a silver and black quarter panel with touches of red and yellow. It's a big change from their 2019 1X, but there's no doubt that it's still a sharp looking skate.

The biggest upgrade is the introduction of Bauer's Dynaflex system -- and this one's a game changer.

The Dynaflex system, found in the quarter package of the skate, allows for slight movement throughout the boot -- but the skate still stays locked into your foot.

This is fantastic because, in the past, some users have argued that the Vapor line can be too stiff, especially for those that are younger or aren't as heavy.

When paired with Bauer's injected eyelets, this allows skaters to get the most out of each stride.

The additional flex in the boot means getting deeper into your stride, as well as less foot fatigue during games or practices.

The next major upgrade is the new recoil pro tongue. Rather than Bauer's old recoil tongue, which was broken up into several pieces, the main insert is one single piece, built into the felt tongue. It's a small detail, but users will find extra comfort in the feature.

The 2X Pro also features an asymmetrical toe cap, a feature that plays hand-in-hand with the Dynaflex system. Again, it's a small detail, but it helps to give more comfort to the player without sacrificing any weight or durability.

The quarter package, similar to other high-end Bauer skates, features the company's 3-D lasted Carbon Curv composite. It's stiff, for maximum energy transfer and it reacts extremely well to being baked.

On the inside of the boot, you'll find Bauer's Lock-Fit Pro, aero foam pro memory foam, and comfort edge padding.

The outside of the boot features Bauer's Lightspeed edge holder and LS5 carbon-coated stainless steel.

So is it worth buying? The Dynamax system is a brand new feature -- it's the first time that it's been introduced into any Bauer skate -- and added flex is fundamental for any skater. It's definitely a feature worth looking into.
